The Black Isle team and some of their clients came out in force to support the Hire A Hero charity’s inaugural Gorilla Ball at the Victory Services Club in Marble Arch on 29 August.
The charity’s rugby team, the Gorillas, hosted the event with Black Isle’s Richard Mayson, an ex-Royal Marine and Gorillas team member, as MC for the evening. The black tie event was well represented by London’s rugby elite with former Wasps captain Chris Bell as guest speaker and Saracens’ Will Fraser.
The Black Isle clients generously supported the auction and raffle with Wendy Kay from Barclays winning the most sought after lot of the night: a highly prized 22 year old bottle of 22 SAS Regiment Scotch whisky. Angela Burke won the bid for four tickets to see the Saracens v Harlequins match at Wembley with exclusive changing room access after the game. Other unique items of SAS memorabilia, Gorillas merchandise and weekends away were on offer to guests which, in total, raised four and a half thousand pounds for the charity.
Hire A Hero supports the men and women of our Armed Forces when they leave the services. Ex-service personnel can face numerous challenges in their transition to civilian life so the charity helps individuals find employment and provides training and assistance with housing and care plans for past, present and future service leavers.
